Travel Blogger of the Month: Just Go Global
Meet Just Go Global who has been selected as the Travel Blogger of the Month! Who is Kimberley, the girl behind the blog? Why is her blog called Just Go Global? And why is there a special place in her heart for Africa? Find out more about this Dutch travel girl in the interview!
1. Hi Kimberley! Tell us a little bit more about yourself?
Hi! My name is Kimberley, I’m a 30-year-old Dutchie who loves to travel and write about travel. I have visited over 30 countries and plan to visit a lot more – preferably all 196! In addition to my work as a blogger, I work as a marketer. I live with my cat (but I am not a cat lady, lol) and I am lucky to call the beautiful city of Utrecht my place of residence. In Utrecht, we have the same beautiful canals as in Amsterdam but without the hordes of tourists. Lucky me!

2. How did you become a travel blogger?
About 10 years ago I started blogging to keep family and friends updated about my life and experiences while living abroad for six months. After that, I occasionally kept blogging about some trips I made. It was in 2015 when I bought a domain name with the goal to share my passion for travel and inspire others to travel as well. My motto is: “don’t wait but just go” – hence the name of my blog ‘Just Go Global’.
“My goals is to share my passion for travel and inspire others to travel as well”
In the last couple of years, I have started to take my blog more seriously which has been showing off in rapidly increasing visitor numbers and fun collaborations. Last year I have even decided to cut back on my hours as Marketeer and invest more time in my blog – exciting but at the same time also fun!
3. What is your ultimate dream destination?
This is such a hard question! I have a very broad interest and actually, want to visit every country in the world. But well, If I have to pick one it would be Namibia because that country has been on my list for years. For some reason Africa has a special place in my heart and I mean, who wouldn’t want to visit places like Deadvlei & Sossusvlei, fish river canyon and see the wildlife and tribes of Namibia!? I really hope to be able to visit Namibia soon!

4. Show us your three favorite travel photos…
Ios – Greece. While the capital city of Los is pretty crowded during high season, I found this open-air theatre with the most breathtaking view completely abandoned!
Monument Valley – United States of America. I don’t think this photo needs a caption. I mean, look at the landscape and how tiny I am!
Lake Bled – Slovenia. One of the most magical viewpoints I’ve ever been which proves that you do not always have to travel far to see beautiful things
That is definitely Bosnia Herzegovina. During my visit, I was able to learn more about the history of the war which has made a big impression on me. The fact that the people are so welcoming, the food is delicious and you can find so much beautiful nature within relatively small distances makes it an undiscovered gem that everyone should see.
“In Bosnia Herzegovina people are so welcoming, the food is delicious, and the nature is beautiful“
6. What is your best travel tip?
My best tip for solo travelers that want to have good photos with themselves in it: invest in buying a tripod! You don’t necessarily need an expensive camera, you can even put your phone on a tripod. A tripod gives you the chance to take your time to frame the right shot and to not depend on other tourists.
